Another Hawkesbury sandstone hill in the Yengo area. Similar to Mellong and Mount Isobel but less impressive than either of those. The first section is along an old fire trail but then follows a ridge through fairly open scrub.
Driving directions
From the Colo River bridge, drive north along Putty Road for 40km. The start of the walk is aroung 600m south of the entrance to Mellong Range Fire trail.
Directions to the summit
1. The start of the walk follows an old fire trail. The trail is marked as a right-of -way on the topo map and is visible on satellite imagery.
2. After about 2.3 km leave the trail and head west.
3. After about 400m you reach a slope. Climb a spur to the ridge at the top. Then follow the top of the ridge as it meanders westwards.
4. At the point where the ridge turns sharply SW, there is possibly the best view on the walk. From here keep following the ridge westwards till you reach the summit.
5. There is a bit of a climb up to the final summit.
